@JohnAllanification Yeah, Dern's the best...he done what he need to do n got out b4 craphole LA ate him up, I reckon...
Line from Lonesome Dove Cap'n Call: " I got better things to do than sit around an old campfire and lissen to you two discuss grudges." (pulls down brim of his hat, gets up, leaves)

that really would've been interesting - bd doing a different part.
i think that it would've said so much abt acting.
-
skwimpy-eyed. i'm gonna' borrow that line.
it's abt as descriptive of Bruce Dern as anything else. he's part of our experience cultural ly (pardon spelling).i think - that look&manner`
ty,sir. i've completely enjoyed your return's.

like Hitchcock use to say "I hate commercials."....well, I hate the character limit....well where was I? Oh yeah...Ramsey's dead, she leans in for the kiss, and as she recoils back in horror.... bumps into Dern the roustabout...Mrs Ramsey's face is a contortion of repulsion, shock and complete understanding that she's looking into the eyes of her husband's kil....It's not the line, it's how Dern plays it all skwimpy-eyed like he does...He croaks, " "Evenin' Mrs Ramsey; is there a problem?"
-
@JohnAllanification Well, I'll tell ya...but first you gotta remember that Hitchcock was the master of suspense. Dern played a roustabout workin for a Mr Ramsey& just by the way Dern plays the part, you know somewhere along the line all that pent-up hell inside him's gonna bust, but he's playin it cool & has everybody fooled.until he kills Ramsey sets him up by the fireplace in his rocker Mrs Ramsey comes in and leans in to kiss the old man U see a shadow behind her& as she sees Ramsey's dead.

I used to scare the hell out of my little sister by doing an imitation of one line that Bruce Dern did on an Alfred Hitchcock TV episode maybe 50 years ago. I'm 63 years old, and I still remember doing that ONE line , and I bet my sister does, too. That's how good Bruce Dern was as an actor.

And i thought i was the only one in the world that loved this guy.I though the other about him and wish he would come back to the screen. He could have been a leading man as far as i am concerned.
