Bait and switch credits. The sound of this intro almost makes you think that this movie is going to be romantic. That's SO far from it..

Someone once described de Sades "120 days of Sodom" as a "100-page toilet inscripton". De Sade indulging himself. This is Pasolini's version of it. Pasolini (like De Sade) had his fun and masked it with some ostensible "social commentary" about corruption of power and fascism.

@Nathan084 This is one of my favorite movies ever. Some people, like myself, enjoy stuff like this. However, I would disagree that this film is not deeper than meets the eye. I think it is an excellent look at fascism and the corruption that unlimited power inevitably brings about. Not only does this movie satisfy my need for depravity (not too much gore going on), it also makes me think. Nevertheless, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. :-)

Im a huge fan of world cinema and love horror psychological films an seem some pretty weird ones. I watched this out of curiosity as it's quite infamous but long story short I thought this film was a piece of trash. Anyone saying it's artistic or a masterpiece etc imo is totally nuts. This was a piece of exploitation cinema with to my mind no redeeming features. I know it's meant to be bleak but after watching this I just thought what were they thinking when they made this :/
