  • This was before Psygnosis got bought out by Sony

  • Sony purchased Psygnosis in 1994 prior to the launch of the PS1 in order to have some impressive games at launch to sell the system, which Wipeout was one of them. This N64 version wasn't released until 1998. What's interesting it that wipeout was popular enough to port over to competing systems (it was ported to both the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo N64), which is very unusual for a 2nd party developer

  • lol no!!! i wasnt poor!

  • Other than the F-Zero series, the Wipeout series is the best futuristic racing game series in history. This version was incredible and as fun as the PlayStation ones. Best thing is that you can have split-screen racing without having to have some link deal for the PlayStation console. It played every bit like the PS1 Wipeouts while delivering all that made these games fun- fast action, great music, and unforgettable gameplay. GREAT video post and great memories. Music good even today.

  • this is one of my old favorite games for the n64. :D

  • @JohnMarineTube The one thing that always rubbed me the wrong way about F-Zero was its sense of detatchment from what would drive motor racing of this kind.

There's no background, no lore and importantly, the ship designs make absolutely no sense. It still feels like a child's game, which is how Nintendo likes it and why I can't take them seriously.

  • I had this game and I burned my n64 playng it

  • Sony bought Psygnosis back in 1993. Midway did the N64 version in 1998. Because it didn't interfere with console sales, Sony/Psygnosis gave the go ahead for N64 and Saturn versions, thus raking in a bit more money. I'd say the N64 version is the 3rd best in the series (Wipeout and Wipeout 2097 being 1st and 2nd best). There's some class tracks, and the controller works well with it.

  • The N64 version had some great tracks. This was done by Midway and it still play great.

  • Batman Begins*, not Batman Returns.

  • @hellspit2003

There are many cartridge games that had loading. Even SNES games. Out of This World had loading times, and Batman Returns had loading times (it used advanced for the time prerendered graphics, and the loading sucked. 20+ second loading for each screen, and you changed screens every few moments.)

If you see the screen blank for more than a second before a game or stage starts, it's loading. Even Goldeneye did this. It just might not have a loading indicator.

  • Had a nice sound test.
