I am so happy to find this song, I thought I would never hear it again. My great aunt loved this song and told my mom if she ever had a girl to name her Fern. So that is how I got my name. Thanks for the place to hear this - it's greatly appreciated!!!

This is a very nice song! I'm a huge Carter Family fan, and I think the title of this movie should be written with big letters! - Carter Family, not carter family :)

Yes, Maybelle discusses playing the Dobro on these recordings during a brief interview at the 1963 Newport Music Festival (released on the "Wildflower Pickin'" album in 1997).

Are you sure that it is a Dobro (in the generic sense of a resophonic guitar) and not just slide on the L-5?
Either way Maybelle is fantastic slide player, of course she was a fantastic guitarist to begin with.
