contrarymotion, wise words you add to this thread (as in "contrary motion"). Generalization is a problem in these pages and sometimes takes the shape of gossip instead of informed opinion. Before youtube existed, there was no way for anybody to get their hands on so many live performances of this and other ensembles. Now they are watched more often than before and are under stronger scrutiny than ever. Even worse, because of a bad day, these boys and their efforts may be unfairly underestimated.

no need for name calling. It is of course always better live and the quality of the video IS poor.
But one still can hear things such as tuning and togetherness and I believe that Zerlina was making a comment based on the fact that the vienna boys choir has been not doing so well in recent tours (with regards to the quality of their music).
Besides this is probably just a short snippet of a longer concert and not representitve. no need to get defensive.

I agree that this video is poor quality. The sound is awful. I am sure the boys sounded amazing live.
