@BreezesofConey ...I think a lot of the uproar was because they made the killer's feelings about his homosexuality and his "daddy complex" the center of his psychopathology.......remember when this movie came out there were not any positive images on film or TV to balance it

I still don't understand what all the fuss is about with this movie. Remove all the gay ultra pushy gay rights attitudes that automatically deem anything made from outside the community derisive of the gay community and you have a pretty interesting movie. Mind you I am a gay male who was in the center of all the NYC action in those days and I still have a difficult time understanding what exactly everyone protests about this movie, it never offended me. Then again I'm not heterophobic either.
