The balloon drop had problems, and CNN mistakenly brought the control audio feed live as he directed the semi-famous doomed balloon and confetti drop. The anchors try to explain, only adding to the hilarity. Note Jeff Greenfield mentions the failure possibly being a bad omen for the Kerry campaign, similar to a weak balloon drop in New York for Carter in 1980. "We may have heard a profanity, Wolf.."
