Mandelson says economic mess is not Labour's fault (08Mar09)

Unelected New Labour business secretary Peter Mandelson describes the UK's economic problems as "not New Labour's fault, it was that other guys fault". The UK has the best regulator system (thought up buy Gordon Brown). It's not that saying sorry is the hardest word, it doesn't exist for New Labour. And why does someone who is not elected deserve 24/7 police protection from protesters?

This interview has been edited to cut out Mandelson waffle (so will jump in one place). It is not the full interview, that really does go on and on, this is "the best bit".

What has "bailing out the banks" done? Frontline jobs were still lost, banks stil arent lending.
