I attempted suicide in 1979, I was 21 years old then. I put a 12 gauge shotgun to my chest and pulled the trigger. Why I survived is a long story but I will never forget the first thing I thought when I heard that gun go off. "No, I don't want to die!"

Too bad I don't live in San Fransico because I would be dead already but I kinda wish I visited if only to maybe meet you. I bet it would really hurt hitting the water so fast.

Kevin, I work for a childrens charity, but in Scotland the suicide prevention programme that we use is the Canadian model Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - the main message being that it is everyone's responsibility in the community to reach out and help prevent suicide. The course gives people the confidence to do this. Jill

Kevin I read about your story in a book called Survivors Club and I tell it when I deliver suicide prevention programmes (ASIST). I believe that we all need to try and reach out to others to help prevent suicide and these course give people confidence to do that. Wishing you well, keep strong. Jill

Kevin, I was very touched by your story on the documentary I saw. I don't suffer from Bi-polar disorder, but I have a problem with anxiety disorder. Your story has in many ways given me hope and i just want to thank you.
