This was on the Long Island Rail Road on Monday January 26th, 2009 just after 2PM on a train heading to Penn Station. An older white guy (who looked to be in his 60's) asked a black woman (who looked to be in her 40's) if she could stop her Nextel phone from the chirping it kept doing. This went on all the way from Kew Gardens to Penn Station. Somehow, even the presidential election came up.

  • Why is the fool entertaining her by responding? Is there a point? This is an emotionally heightened and obviously racially prejudiced woman, who was caught at the wrong moment. Leave her alone. She would have eventually calmed if he just would have moved. All she needed was someone to take her off the edge. That white man did it.

  • blacks always behave like that on the LIRR.

    (and then they claim racism).

  • I wonder what she does for a living. I'm guessing... probably a kindergarten teacher judging by the school kids I see running around these days.

  • she threatened him..where are the cops?

  • Apologies, you seem like a intelligent person to me. I meant no offense actually, always two sides I guess was my point.

    'Peace'

  • this happens a lot more than i'd care to say. people are trying to sleep and relax to/from their hectic work days in the city, and we have to put up with this crap.

  • She makes a great John Travolta in "the taking of Pelham 1,2,3" MOTHER FACKER!!!!

  • I'm sorry, but what did I put forward that is worth you arguing against? I want it to be clearly stated. It's morning. I'm a bit flustered at the moment.

    Thanks,

    ap

  • Anyway, why didn't she just say 'no I won't bequiet and leave it at that'? Seems like that would have been simple enough, and I exercise the right to say simply 'no' all the time and it feels a lot better than putting out all that bad energy like we heard. Whnat could he have said? If she had said no, I'd wager he 'would have moved' and it would have been over right then and there.

  • Exactly 35 seconds for her to ply the racecard to be played too, and yet only another 15 seconds after that she starts to use stereotypes about black people being 'crazy' as an intimidation tactic.

I'm sorry AP, you sound like a thoughtful person, but I'm afraid you and others got the blinders on for sure. nothing I can do to change your mind, strong minded individuals don't relinquish 'ideals' easily. That's why 'ideals' are inferior to 'ideas'. Facts don't sway ones ideals, unlike ideas
