Veteran Calvin Murphy suffers from PTSD and a Michigan Judge awarded half of his combat earned disability pay to his wife. The issue is really about the conflict with the US Code of laws which says veterans disability awards can not be divided, they belong to the veteran. Veterans need to know that in the case of a divorce and it does not matter if they are 100% disable, a judge can award part of their benefits. Calvin has no minor children and service to Vietnam was years before he married. Veterans need to contact they congressman and representatives to investigate this practice of judges not recognizing the US Code of Law. If the veteran serves, the benefits should be protected. The judges are violating the law and service personnel do not know or understand that they could lose half if not more of their disability pay.

He is not the only veteran going through this injustice. Present and future veterans take note.

  • Sadly, this has happened too many times. 100 percent disabled Vets are targets for a few money grubbing women. I agree some women may have conned by a Vet or two, but; only a Federal Court can take these benfits, if they were based on fraud or debts owed the Fed Gov such as IRS taxes owed.

  • it is not a women thing, this is any soldier, remember there are female soldiers and the husband is getting their benefits. The state court is taking the benefits, not Fed, local judges, as in county

  • I sent your posting/video to my brother Calvin, in which he will send it on to other veterans.

  • Need your support America, contact your Congressman and State Representatives. Help save Veterans Disability pay.

  • My question is has anyone stood up and stated that their disability is not touchable while the judge was giving their verdict. I Fell if you can show a law that states their disability is not bound to be any type of payment then you should be able to sue that county court and have the verdict overturned. Guy's I am sorry but the law is the law, and I would never pay from my disability.

  • @blackonblueful Do not refuse to ktake the drugs, Have them shopped to you and flush one everyday, A diaignosis is one who seeks medical treatment at least once every three months and who takes meds fr a condition wihen prescribed. I refused to take meds for my presistent migraines when I was on the TDRL and they took my retirement away, and I also refised to take meds for PTSD and when I was rated my the C&P they denied me for refusal to seek treatment even though I was in therpy. So get them.

  • Can 100% disability benefits from PTSD be taken away if a vet refuses to take harmful meds from the VA that makes a person feel like zombie?

  • Not all but some spouses just ride the wave men or women to get benefits. Cheat on their spouse when they were deployed. When I came back from the first gulf war, FT Hood was a mess with cheating spouses. I was happy I wasn't married. Good Luck all Vets.

  • I just happend to come across this video while watching basketball clips surprisingly. I watched the whole thing and couldn't believe whats happening to these poor veterans. I sincerely hope something gets done about it and if I can do anything to help from Australia please let me know.

  • thanx for the heads up.i am 100% sc....i certainly will consider this before i marry anyone

  • A family court took away $2000/mo of my disability compensation for war injuries and awarded it to an ex wife who is able bodied as alimony. The judges are unfair in how they treat disabled people. They bend the law to suit their purposes.
