@sunynight3 Regardless of what you would prefer to call it, it has been popularly referred to as the "Game of Life" for more than 40 years. We didn't invent it, and it's not in our power to change it. Research a bit more on mathematical games, and you'll enjoy it more. :)

I have to wonder why they built special purpose circuit boards. Why all that hardware when it could have been done so easily with a large touch-sensitive screen and a simple PC?

@RogerGarrett This is accompanying an exhibit of an artist whose medium is LEDs. Using a computer touchscreen would not be nearly as appropriate.

Nice work, you guys. Must've been tricky fitting all the boards together, especially with headers pointing at right angles to each other.

@Scowdich That part was pretty easy. Stick together one column of four boards and attach it-- with its four edge connectors --to the neighboring column.
