@o0o0oo00oo00 Thank you for your explanation. I can't disagree with you because South American music is not a form that is.. in my blood, part of my own heritage. I bow to your more nuanced understanding.
@acninee I totally agree you. But you cannot expand without a boundary. To play a piece of music, you have to at least remain some respect to the composer. And for this recording, it's actually not the problem you mentioned. Kremer tried to play south american music like south american music, but he can't. Because his style does not fit with the style of the music. This is not uncommon, if you listen to Jian Wang's new cd Reverie, it has exactly the same problem on south american music.
@o0o0oo00oo00 A composer makes a piece of music and it is a gift to the world. And as with all gifts, sometimes the recipient does things with it that change, but not all change is a desecration, sometimes change can illuminate a gift in ways that expand it, and make it larger.
@o0o0oo00oo00 I thought the timbre hes using was spot on it's sort of a raw griity sound. As far as it sounding classical I always sort of thought that music like this and maybe gershwin should sort of have this cross between classical and a hint of spanish/gypsy or what ever the music is trying to immulate. I think a classical feel goes well with this, If he were playing a jazz standard I might agree however I would love to hear a recording of what you mean.....Thanks (:
This is horrible! Kremer treats Piazzolla's music as classical music, but it is NOT! Kremer is a great musician, but he cannot play all types of music. I bought his Piazzolla years ago, and that was awful, not listenable!!
bravo!
