LORIGNAL A family of five lost their house on September 6, 2009 in LOrignal, as the house completely burned to the ground.
Richard Sincennes, distict chief of LOrignal Fire Department, said 16 firefighters fought the blaze for five hours.
They managed to save the neighbours houses from catching fire, but were unable to save the two-story residence.
Firefighters continued their surroud and drown operation for five hours before the house was extinguished.
The firefighters also ordered a backhoe to flatten the home, so that flames would not spread into the neighbourhood.
The structure was too unstable, we had to take the decision to call a backhoe and knock it down, said Sincennes.
No one was injured in the fire, and Sincennes said this was because of working smoke detectors.
