Official Statement of First Presidency issued on August 17, 1951, reads: "The position of the Church regarding the Negro may be understood when another doctrine of the church is kept in mind, namely, that the conduct of spirits in the pre-mortal existence has some determining effect upon the conditions and circumstances under which these spirits take on mortality, and that while the details of this principle have not been made known, the principle itself indicates that the coming to this earth and taking on mortality is a privilege that is given to those who maintained their first estate; and that the worth of the privilege is so great that spirits are willing to come to earth and take on bodies no matter what the handicap may be as to the kind of bodies they are to secure; and that among the handicaps, failure of the right to enjoy in mortality the blessings of the priesthood is a handicap which spirits are willing to assume in order that they might come to earth. also.... "Bronze Age Myths"... Whether or not people decide to accept the teachings of the bible or any other religion for that matter is based solely on faith. It is the their decision. However keep in mind that the Bronze Age Myths you speak of did much to civilize Europe, and make us more humane with time. The lesson is be it ancient or new, higher philosophies fail because man is naturally selfish.

Don't we still respect Hindus? As much hatred as there could be in the US towards Islam, people have used their good sense to draw the line between what being a true Muslim is and how a terrorist isn't one. Most of the Mormons I've met are very devout, very open minded and kind people. They may have alot of strict rules, but that is because they believe that if they are going to call themselves the "restored, hence "true" as in the original, bona fide one that Christ established" then they have to live up to a high standard.... Also even if their religion is made up how does that invalidate it and its' believers? Don't we still respect Buddhists?

Also was Joseph Smith a fraud of convinced of his calling in life? If someone has faith in something it isn't deception or lying if that person truly believe in what they are doing.
