  • How funny you won't use an FM system. Hmm Seemed like they worked great for a long time and they still work fine. The problem is today is consumers are dumb as stumps

    The RC industry has sold its consumers a pig in a poke with the 2.4Ghz systems. All they have accomplished is locking you into a proprietary system with a ridiculously high price tag. At least 20 some odd years ago RC modelers had brains and knew better then getting locked into proprietary systems which eliminated competition

    Guys I am amazed this video is still up. I thought I had wiped it a year or so ago. This was the first XPS modules produced. They had issues, just the same as Futaba and JR all had, albeit very different problems. What XPS has today I do not know. Nor do I intend to test it. The whole idea of these vids was to see what the big three had to offer when 2.4 ghz was released to RC. What you see here is old, no longer valid and it wont seem to disappear when I try to wipe it.

  • Yes, The Corona system should be here any time soon. I will do the same testing with it as the others. It may not be perfect but despite that I still believe the results are relevant in any case.

  • Would there be a difference between the two. ie US and UK?

    Be interesting to know as the US version is banned in the UK.

  • The Spektrum Euro system has slightly reduced power for your use but as to what effect that has on range I am not sure. I can tell you I have witnessed SPEKTRUM flying at 1 mile and that was so far away it was almost impossible to see the plane (40% Biplane). I'm sure the reduced power will very little impact given the extreme range the US version has.

    Go ahead and fly your 72Mhz gears if you are comfortable with anyone who has a radio and a spektra module can shoot you down by just selecting the same channel you're on.

    The first thing I hear from some noob looking at someone flying a RC helis is that "can I get a radio and fly his model away?"

  • Yea, it works at close range but what would happen if you were to take the DX7 down the street? To be absolutly sure the range noise test needs to be completed...

  • I see that the Tx RF power level is higher than the controlled noise, so the noise could not jam none of the signal points.

  • Only problem with your test. Your Tx is too close to the RX. In real life you would need at less 30 feet. With your 2.4 noise generator can u recorded a sample of the TX command & injects it into your software and sweeps the Rx bandwidth LOL??

  • Thanks for publishing these tests. A lot of hot air gets laid to rest when folks like you do tests like these. Metaphores get mixed, too.

  • Will the Spektrum line of equipment be impervious to the upcoming changes in frequencies that will be enforced by the government in the next year or so?
