PLEASE READ
The second (in sequence) in my line/series of tv spots.

Short Version:
I wanted to make a tv spot that is nothing but 100% pure Hollywood fluff. What you see here is the final result.

Long Version:
Essentially, I wanted to fill a tv spot with every possible modern action cliche I could think of. I also wanted to keep it ambiguous plot-wise. One of the goals of a tv spot/trailer is to give away as little of the plot as possible. I did one better: I didn't divulge into the plot whatsoever***. I did this in response to virtually every modern-day trailer that informs the viewer of the complete plot within a 2.5 minute span (I'm aware that some argue that revealing major plot points in a trailer/tv spot is actually a good thing, but as stated, I disagree), leaving very little to the imagination. I'm a fan of the ambiguous/vague, as it creates more excitement when going into a film, you see. In an effort to make something that's pure cheese, adrenaline, and cool visuals, I think I got the job done.

Included cliches:
-Abundance of gun-play.
-Abundance of head turning.
-Abundance of angry-looking people.
-Depth of field shots. Including shots with guns aiming in viewer's general direction.
-(Near) breakneck pace set to a rhythmic beat.
-"Cold Blue" film filter. (an unfiltered version of the video can be found on my page)
-Head shots!!!
-Well dressed men.
-Interrogation scene.

Also worth noting is the final shot at the end where I'm falling backwards in a chair. The result? A lacerated and broken thumb and a huge bruise snaking up my left arm. Yes, that's the actual shot of me injuring myself for the art.

My roles are as follows:
-Shot with Canon Xh-A1
-Tripod (came in handy for those static and solo shots)
-Apple Final Cut Pro (editing, obviously)
-Adobe After Effects CS3 (exploding head, title animation)
-Video CoPilot Film Magic Pro (blueish hue)
-Apple LiveType (title creation/animation)

Protagonist:
-Me (Ca'Mareo)

Antagonists:
-Pat Clifton (guy getting his head blown off, etc)
-Bryan Collins (Guy by the car at night)
-Dan Fasciano (Blew Pat's head off, driving the car, etc)

***However if you must have some idea of a plot, then I suggest watching the "Supermassive" tv spot BEFORE watching this one.

***Please note that a classmate had a similar idea to mine. However, his idea was to create an ultra outlandish/cheesy action flick (which I think he did perfectly), whereas I wanted to create a completely cliched (in that it includes every trailer cliche out there) and ridiculous trailer/tv spot for a movie that doesn't even exist. Just felt I'd say this in case anyone from my class sees this and screams "plagiarism."

  • Again, awesome video. Sweet. Ouch on the thumb breaking, but at least you got such an amazing video out of it.
