In 2006, my 7 year old had to make a leprechaun trap, for first grade. She drew up plans and asked for my assistance (Moms and Dads were allowed to help). Having never seen a leprechaun trap, let alone a leprechaun, we weren't sure how big the trap needed to be. Nonetheless, she and I built a trap based on her design. We were quite surprised when all the other traps were roughly the size of a shoe box. Oh well, we had a great time building it. Needless to say, when her sister turns seven, next year, I think we'll build a smaller trap. Happy Saint Patrick's Day.

The baby built her own leprechaun trap this year (she's now 7). Unfortunately, her teacher didn't know it was a first grade tradition (it's her first year teaching there). She didn't assign building a trap until the day before St. Patrick's Day. Therefore, she only had a couple of hours, after school, to build it. It turned out great, but it's not quite as involved as her big sister's was.
