Earl Campbell was a beast. The sorry thing us the cheap ass Oilers never put a complete good team around him. They just ran him 40 times a game and hoped for the best. If he could have had the support other punishing runners like walter payton had, it would have been sick. Instead oilers ran him til his legs no longer worked. Tatum decimated Campbell so badly that ole Earl thereafeter FEARED any potential contact with The Assassin... this was confirmed by many of Campbell's teammates therafter. CAMPBELL WAS AFRAID OF THE ASSASSIN!!!!!!! Tatum OWNED Campbell easily!!!! Many of Earl's teammates later would confirm that Earl FEARED any further future contact with The Assassin! Campbell would sometimes shiver just knowing he had to face Tatum's team any time thereafter. Just ask Campbell's old teammates about that.
