Hey,
this is me playing a Robben Ford instrumental called cannonball shuffle. This tune was written as a tribute to Freddie King, The Texas Cannonball.
This is the first thing I've recorded with my Hermida Audio Zendrive. And it's also the first video on my new channel! Check out the old one under the name of epiphonefan.

Gear used:
Fender 1998/1997 Usa (Roadhouse) Stratocaster with NOS (Texas special pickups, rosewood neck, USA made. The new roadhouses don't have that!)
Hermida Audio Zendrive (Great pedal!)
Fender Frontman 65R

  • No! Use a backing track - I can hear Mr. Ford's playing OVER yours. I can hardly hear you playing actually, so I have no idea if your playing is good or crappy. :( No off-notes, but that's about it. The expression is lost completely. However, you DO have a great guitar, great taste in music and some nice chops.

    Thanks... or something like it.

I could not find a backing track that's why I did it like this. And it's better like this than just solo, because of timing/feel and whatnot. If you listend'to Robben enough you could hear the difference in tone. Listen to the original, then to this. You should be able to hear a difference.

and then again, I did try to balance out the volume a bit to be somewhat the same so you could hear that I was doing a damn good "cover".

  • @Stratozenfan

However, this just shows that that only works if the viewer actually believes that I'm really playing along.

  • @Stratozenfan

even if you can hear robben alittle louder, you should be able to hear a difference in tone and so be able to hear what I am doing.

  • Well done, I especially liked the saxophone solo!

  • @Alexiaden93 Thank's ! I recorded that as well, then put it in a drum loop.

  • @Stratozenfan The problem is - his vibrato, bends and sliding technique are masking your playing. I've listened to the original a LOT and I'm sorry, but I really can't clearly discern your playing from this clip. I'm searching the internet for a backing track and I'll send you one if I find it. You've really put a lot of effort into it and you have the gear and chops for a mindblowing cover!

  • Great playing! btw, I have a strat that looks almost like yours.

  • Sweet!!! BTW- i'm The Duck Of Hellfire on the RF forums. WELL DONE!!!

  • amazing man!
