@ollieoniel Your right. I work at a foundry and a sales rep tried to sell us a plasma that gouges. We showed him a riser on a casting 8" solid block that needs to be removed. He said "Oh ya no problem that 100 amp plasma can do that". Boy was he wrong. Only a 1200 amp air-arc can remove thick material in little time.

Air arc gouging is more usefull for removing welds where plasma is for neat cutting. Gouging is much less controllable for cutting neatly.

why not do the plasma cut over the edge of the table instead on into the V channel.. makes it look misleading as to how clean the cutting actually is..

An arc cutter is still handy when you want to cut deeper than two inchs. say like a foot of metal.
