did anyone notice the old tank car at around 1:26?
-
@cbehr91 not totally true, i've seen some (never been inside) some UP C40-8s or SD50s.... but they are a pretty rare site.
-
how does it stall ? do the wheels start spinning on the track ?
-
Seems like a planned thing to me since the helper engines on the other train were helping that one up the hill also. Plus, the helper engines looked like pieces of s**t.

@8747csx the crew probably figured they weren't going to make the grade at that rate and powered down.

I think the GE unit is dead.

@cbehr91 Yes I believe so. Video Rails is my favorite rail-video company. I wonder why they went under...

@Espeelover Cool. I think just this year Pentrex started re-mastering some more Video Rails titles.
SP 6822, correct me if I am wrong but is that not a SD40-2 tunnel motor and did any of those units ever get UP paint?

@lolz976 No 6822 was an SD45 tunnel motor. SD40 tunnel motors received numbers in the 8000 series. There were some SD40 tunnel motors that did receive UP paint and then there were some SD45 tunnel motors that were derated to 3,000 hp and repainted as well. I believe however that UP has cut ties with all their tunnel motors.

Define "stall". Either there was tougher grade ahead the engineer knew he couldn't make or more likely, the short- time ratings of the 4-axle power came into play.

Stall = the unexpected or unwanted stopping of an engine. What difference does it make?
And yes, the solid set of four-axle power probably had something to do with it.
