  • Whats so special about this box? How much does it cost? I've seen convertor boxes that come with the "cvi" output which is the green red and blue wires for pure picture and the red and white for audio. Thats much better than the "s" type.

  • This is merely a box that translates digital to analog signal for older TVs that doesn't have a built-in digital tuner. It cost 9.99 + tax - 10 dollars government coupon which is about 14 dollars.

There are other converter boxes that produce far better quality using component output (using the green, red, and blue wires) but they do not qualify for the coupon. These give you 480i standard resolution. CM has S-video output while some only has composite.

    Hope this answers your question.

  • I've just purchased this box and I'm quite disappointed. My TV doesn't have S-Video, so I have to use composite video. The picture quality is pretty good but the menu and guide text on the screen is so small and blurry that I can't read a damn thing. I guess the menu text on your video is clear because you use S-Video. Man, I wonder if they'v ever tested on composite video or RF cable.

  • sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. Yeah I guess the menu is one of the downsides of this box. When I first installed it with composite cable, it was blurry as well until I plugged in the S-video then everything became clearer.

  • can you tell me what the name of your antenna is and how much it cost :)

  • It says Archer on the antenna. I picked this one up for free from my aunt who has built-in at her place. I think you can pick up an indoor antenna at local hardware stores for 20~30 bucks, or make one yourself for less than 10 bucks. I've seen numerous videos on YouTube to make them.

    picture quality is great

  • Thank you for posting this.

The instructions that come in the box for this Bulgarian piece of shit converter box are HORRIBLE. you cant make heads or tails out of it.

Don't let the state of the art design and stylish colors fool you, yes it's made in bulgaria. :)

  • I'm very happy and now i can improve my english :) The digital signal is very strong!

Im desapointed because in USA the HD channel are compressed by sub-channel, in Canada the HD channel is less compressed because we have no sub-channel. In Canada the HD = better, but the us channel are nice also.
