  • Jason - Many thanks for this. I've been playing rock & country for over 20 years and am now finally taking the plunge into jazz. This is exactly what I needed. I've always known in the back of my mind that a solo should be melodic in nature, but have never made a conscious decision to do so. With my limited jazz chops, keeping things to quarter notes right now is a great idea and still give me a lot of things to chew on. I'm really grateful for this video.

  • @kx9x Man!! Thanks so much. It is really great to hear that these videos are helping. I hope to make some more of these soon. Any questions please feel free to email me.

  • You're welcome! Do you plan on making a Brush Video? Everyone has seen the PROs explain the rhytms....BUT I have NEVER seen a brush video explaining HOW/WHERE to come back with your hands after a Fill. When using the various tricky sweep/cross-overs...it becomes CONFUSING to beginners and even advanced players. So, Jason, do YOU want to be the first to explain this since you are are very clear with explanations? If so, teach slowly with several examples?

    Thanks

    Rich

  • @Poolprayers Thanks Rich. I am planning on doing that. After summer I will be back to my video series.

  • Jason!!! I applaud very loudly your ideas and presentation! Many of the TOP players and teachers mean well, byt seem t confuse this aspect.

As you say, it may SEEM basic ...But this is a very POWERFUL TOOL!

    Thank You!

  • @grimsrage ...I had the same problem...here is what i did..I made sure to lower the angle of the foot pedal to where my toe and ball are "ALMOST" level when pressed down. This increases the separation between the cymbals a lil! * Next, I made a lil "wooden wedge" (1/2inch) and placed it under the heel of the foot pedal = This lowers the toe-ball angle as your foot is on the pedal. Overall, I increased speed and stamina IMMEDIATELY!

    Good Luck!

    Rich

  • Your snare is beautiful O_O.

  • Thanks for checking it Willy. I really appreciate it. Take care.

  • lovely tuning. I'm not usually a fan of the highly tuned toms and especially bass drum but you have the intervals so well done it sounds more like a double bass :D nice work (also much better ride on this one hehe)
