Q: Is there a way I could make animated scores like this myself?
A: The Music Animation Machine MIDI file player will generate sort kind of display; you can get the (Windows freeware) software here:

  • Is there a word for a fugue with a harmonic supportive line (somewhat like a basso continuo)?

  • @sammypark333 I don't know of a name (other than, for example, a literal description, in Italian, the language of music notation). But there are plenty of examples of it ... for example, the last movement of the 4th Brandenburg Concerto.

  • While it is rather short this is one of my favorite pieces by Bach, surprised there are only 8 comments.

  • @ppatricide I've posted a couple of other versions of this (see the "Show more" section); it's possible that there are more comments on those.

  • Awesome. How does it feel to translate a genius to the masses, so they can see what you heard? I wanted to do this so many years ago, this is a perfect manifestation of it. As you know this is just the first layer of his genius, so much more in that little gem of music.

    Thanks

    Chris

  • @salterhome It feels great.
