Alex Ovechkin Hipchecks PK Subban (HD Dual-Feed)

In a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Quarterfinal, the Montreal Canadiens went into Washington on Tuesday night and came away with a 3-2 shootout win thanks in large part to the efforts of Brian Gionta. The veteran winger scored both Montreal goals in regulation and also managed to score the deciding -- and only -- goal in the shootout, beating Semyon Varlamov in the opening round.

While Gionta was the offensive star of the game providing all of his team's offense, the highlight of the game came early in the third period when Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin sent Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban somersaulting through the air with this open ice hit.

Subban obviously wasn't amused by his unplanned flight and tried to confront Ovechkin in front of the net. In the end, he earned a two-minute minor for roughing.

PK the ices capades Subban, jump like a girl, and was frustated, very funny to see that big head hit by a truly hockey player.

If PK didnt jump like a fool, then he would have gotten hipchecked. That would have made it an illegal play. As it stands:

Ovi went for the hipcheck, foul.

PK took what amounted to an oscar worthy dive, foul.

They cancel, and because it was a nothing play, no call. No point stopping the game for a penalty over something stupid like that. /debate
