Finally the day came to raise the tower after waiting for the nearby tree limbs to be cut . My grandfather wanted to be the pusher as I cranked it up from the other side. This video concludes the series of tower work I've posted.

  • Really cool video - great idea and approach. If you don't mind I have a couple questions....

About how much does the tower weigh? How deeply is the wood post anchored? Did you do any calculations on the load on the wood post?

    73!

  • @kk0sd Thank you. I really don't know how much the tower weighs, even roughly but if I had to take a wild guess I'd say it would be comparable to about 4-5 heavy set people excluding the rotator, mast and antennas. The wood post is probably anchored about 2.5 - 3 feet in the ground. And there were no calculations, I tend to just "wing" most things. Looking back I would have made many changes but i suppose it's a little late for that now. Thanks for checking out my video

  • I think it was a great job and idea, but I just want to know , what did the older gentleman in the video think he was going to do by being under it ?? if that thing snapped he would have been a dead man, there is NO stopping it if released. If a 28 foot extension ladder goes you let it go why in the world even think about trying to stop that thing. Very unsafe, but overall a great job but very unsafe. That's how back yard statistics are made by doing something and not thinking about safety 1st

  • @larrymota it's my grandfather, it was his idea. kind of pointless to argue with the elderly...LOL

  • The videos are just right to showcase some good install techniques. I learned some good tips, especially your raising system. Thanks!

  • @SkyCharter thank you
