Almost all the major political parties in the country have been using students for meeting their political goals for decades. Jamaat-e-Islamis latest declaration of using students and educational institutions against America is no different a case. In a politically agitated country like Pakistan, however, it does not seem advisable to bring students into the political battlefield. Not only does political participation affect their studies but young students also lack the maturity to handle political affairs controllably and peacefully. During General Musharrafs reign, a ban was imposed on student unions in the country and it made the environment of educational institutions comparatively better. Now, student unions are becoming active again and acts of violence are reported off and on from educational institutes of higher learning. For the best interest of the nation, it is therefore advisable to encourage students towards study and research and not use them to execute ones political agenda.
