This is a slideshow video of the legendary steamboat Delta Queen as she sits as a boutique hotel in Chattanooga, TN. All photos by Jason L. Cowden. Music is 'Down by the Riverside' by The Dukes of Dixieland.
@Sorvea Right....I know the history. She was forced into retirement in 2008 when congress would not give her an exemption as she had since the early 70s. The organization "Save the Delta Queen 2010" was trying to buy her to run her with 49 passengers, but the attempt failed. I have heard no new news,
@baritonebynight true, and they are trying to do that. at least she isn't mothballing like the American Queen or being scrapped by the American Queen. a long time ago, ships made with more than 50% wood were not allowed to run, however, the Delta was allowed to be "Grandfathered" due to certain reasons (ect never more than 20 feet from shore at any time) but when new owners purchased her, the long arm of the law came down on her. They are trying to get away with only carrying 49 ppl at a time

The Queen does NOT belong as a hotel in TN. She belongs cruising the rivers as she was designed to do.
