Here's a link to the official dvd--finally released--of practically the entire set: http://www.amazon.com/Live-At-US-Festival-1983/dp/B005HK13SQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=mov...
Live at the US Festival (organized by Steve Wozniak) in Devore, California, June 4, 1983. I was in the front row at this mega-concert, my Mom was asleep next to me on the ground! Willie put on the best, most right-on show I've ever seen him do...Willie closed the show at the end of a very long day, at about 2 a.m. What a trip!

Willie's latest single that summer was "Why Do I Have To Choose," from the Take It To The Limit album. This is the show Willie refers to in his biography with Bud Shrake in which he said he was paid "way too much money" to play that night (Van Halen were reported to have received a cool $1 million for their set). I had bought that exact shirt as a souvenir and had it for years!

  • Is he playing a flamenco guitar? It looks like nylon strings and doesn't sound like steel. Also the head looks like a flamenco guitar. Classic - this guy is a certified genius on the fretboard.

  • It's an old Martin classical guitar with gut strings.

  • I wish they'd release more from this US FESTIVAL gig!!!

  • Another vote for making the entire performance available, so my kids can hear and see an inspiring performance that isn't rap. And hen many of us oldsters can't afford to go to the real thing anymore. Great song, wonderful sentiment communicated superbly

  • Its been my privilege to have met Willy twice. He is the greatest there ever will be..

  • My heart...He feels it too or he couldn't move our hearts...<3 this song...One of his best and my all time favorite...Best recording of it on youtube...of what I've seen and heard...****

  • This is one of Willie's best songs. Only Willie can bring this one off.

  • Great video he is and will always be up ther #1the best with Merle haggard thy are my legend heros of country along with Johnny cash I coverd this tune but no one does it better then Willie. years ago about 83 my best friend died and this tune realy helped me get through it . R.I.P Bobby L . Thanks For The Video. yours Truly MrToeKnee641

  • Everything good but, what's the drummer on? His timing is terrible!

  • This is an awesome song by a legend. It is my favr. His guitar is a one of a kind. He ordered more but they never gave him the same sound. Thus, to this day he plays with the same guitar he started with. There is mo other like it or that can give this very distinctive sound.

  • @soshimo It wasn't till I had the very great pleasure to see Willie in concert and be second row center, that I realized that the black shadow on his guitar was NOT a finger board, but a HOLE he had worn into the guitar and I believe that contributes to the distinctive sound of his music

  • BEST! - Vasile Dicu***

  • @1KoloheSista Your Dad has no clue: The lyrics are about a someone who he is love with who left him with a broken heart. Last I heard neither Willie or the Hells Angels were really hip to the whole Gay Sex thing!
