  • hey colin

i was wondering if there's a difference in soft pastels and pastel pencils. i've been using soft pastels for several years but i still havent tried pastel pencils yet. i'm not too sure if there's a whole different set of techniques i'll need to learn, or if it's really just a matter of how detailed i want to go.

    thanks

  • @theTalkingRice Thank you for your interest. There is quite a difference between soft pastels and the pastel pencils this means that the techniques used are very different too. They are used more like watercolour than soft pastels, that is building them up from light to dark and laying foundation colours to soften the harshness of the strong colours etc. Kind regards Colin.

  • man u paint so cool

what do u like more pastel or oil pastels ?

  • Thank you for your interest. I much prefer pastels over oil pastel as I like to blend the colours, I also like the chalky feel of pastel.

    Regards Colin.

  • is dat oil or chalk pastel

  • Thank you for your interest. The pencils I use are similar but harder than chalk stick pastels.

    Best regards Colin.

  • @jandzownedu The pencils are called 'Pitt Pastel Pencils' and are made by Faber-Castell. Thank you for your interest regards Colin.

  • what brand of pencils are these?

  • @hana707chan Thank you for your interest. I Use Faber-Castell Pitt pastel pencils, they are the best.

    Kind regards

    Colin.

  • what kind of pastels do you use , as in brand?

Faber Castell?? I've been drawing with Prisma colored pencils for a couple years now.

But I've noticed that pastel pencils blend a lot better which is what I'm looking for.

    Do you recommend a brand?

  • Please continue to talk and explain what you do with pastels. Excellent video demo. Its hard to learn from the ones with just music background. But I appreciate all your videos. I just prefer you talking us through the method of pastel.
