TENT, QUARTET, BOWS AND ELBOWS (2007)
project by Ana Prvacki
Imagine a medium-sized tent.
A classical string quartet enters it and zips it up.
They start to play something vigorous and of their liking.
The tent is a touch too small and their bows and elbows continuously push and stretch the fabric of the tent to the rhythm of the music.
This performance lasts 5 to 20 minutes depending on the venue and the context. It can be performed on a stage, in a gallery or in a park and the repertoire can be one or more pieces. Ideally, this idea was developed in collaboration with the renown T'ang Quartet and premiered at the Singapore Biennale 2006. This video features a performance of Schulhoff's string quartet no.1, Allegro Giocoso Alla Slovaca.
In March 2007 QUARTET, BOWS AND ELBOWS was performed at the gb agency in Paris, featuring QUATUOR PRISME playing ALFA MALE score by Ignas Krunglevicius composed especially for John Fare and tent.
