The longest version of 'You Know My Name' I found, coupled with more or less rare footage from the Beatles. Recorded while 'Sgt. Pepper', released in 1970. After McCartney, Evans and Lennon added some extra vocals in 1969, Lennon planed to release (with '...Mary Jane') it as a Plastic Ono single (heavily edited by himself), but the other Beatles prevented it. Even on Anthology there are some parts of the song missing.

  • probably the only band that could pull off a 6 minutes song with just one line of lyrics repeated.

  • This shows how amazing the Beatles were.

They could of recorded themselves taking a shit and it would of sounded good.

  • one correction I must make: st the end, a lot of people thought John was impersonating a gorilla, in Johns own words, he was doing a "proper English Gentleman"

  • @MaskedInferno I know the origin story, thanks nevertheless. doesn´t change my opinion that the first minute IMO actually sounds like good music instead of just being a joke regardless of what they intended.

  • @YTWanderer lol, this is a comedy track they made. Lennon was waiting for Paul in his house, and on his piano, he saw a phonebook with the words "you know the name, look up the number". thus this song was born.

  • reggae?

  • Spike will have it on repeat up there ! absolute 'Gold'

  • @darkovacic jazz!!!

  • they obviously had a blast while putting this piece of music together.

Still: if the first minute would last thrice as long and the rest would be cut, this would be a true classic instead of an obscure experiment.

    such powerful vocals !

  • bad mood +6 mins of this song =good mood!!! Thanks beatles

  • @DLZ2000 I'm afraid, my dear boy, you have fallen prey to a terminological inexactitude. I was never a dentist.

  • @flutterandwow are you an eminent physicist, polyglot classicist, prize-winning botanist, hard-biting satirist, talented pianist, good dentist too? Must you must complete your bust, two novels, finish your blueprints, begin your beguine? Are these the footnotes for your 19th book? While you compose it, do you also review it?

Yes? A word with a glorious ring! A true universal utopious thing! Engenders embracing, chasing of blues, the very best word for the whole world to use!
