A quick update of what I'm working on in my spare time - a Bedini SSG with a Rodin Coil acting as the B-wire. My camera died on me before I could get any readings, so we'll get another better video up in a few days and consider this a preview (next will also have circuit diagram). Kudos to the many others working with Rodin Coils in similar and vastly differently setups! Some very interesting things coming out of these coils...

  • gemi -- you are getting some significant revs and RPMs there. What controls the motor speed? How about a guided tour and diagram next time? thanks

  • Thank you! I am getting together the circuit diagram and will try a tour-style video :-)

    The RPMs are affected by a couple factors. The placement of the A-wire coil (bottom, green) relative to the B-wire Rodin. And oddly - charging a capacitor bank has no effect on RPMs, but putting a battery on slows it down (ie. loads it somehow). Charges excellently and quickly. Revived a ten-year old, quite dead, 14.4V laptop battery.

    Applied input voltage also increases RPMs.. almost a no-brainer.

  • try with 2 rotors ( one down as now, and one up, connected by a gear ).. you can collect more torque ?

  • I put a perfectly round hallow pure gold sphere that screws open and close at its middle and placed a grape inside of it and placed it in the middle of the rodin coil and left running on a 6volt current for 60 days and when I unscrewed the Gold Sphere. The grape was in perfect condition. We are still understanding what kept the grapr so fresh for so many days. Please help in our research.

  • My motor runs from 6 vdc to 15vdc, and the charging is not as good as yours. Did you also notice the current draw goes "down" when you load the motor shaft. That is something to investigate further.. Mine charges caps well up to 115 Volts, but mixed results on batteries.

  • geminitric - I'm thinking (uh oh ) that the Bedini type-trigger from the neomagnet acting on the trigger coil is better than just a 555 pulse, since it triggers at the right spot in the magnet rotation and less likely to stall or just vibrate. Some feedback from the magnet to the coil is needed for best performance. I'm going to add a hall-effect sensor to my circuit in addition to the 555 for better overall triggering.

    Keep on cranking that cylinder !!
