This short clip was an experiment with a new camera and demo software. The lovely old Scottish song (also frequently called Maxwelton Braes) was composed Alicia Scott around 1834, based upon an earlier poem by William Douglas.

A studio version of Annie Laurie is included on Jed's 2008 album called SANDS OF ABERDEEN and it is available at CDBaby, I-Tunes, Amazon and all the major MP3 Services.

Annie Laurie in this demo clip is played in open tuning (VETSAPOL) performed by Jed Marum on a Larrivee J10. The video text says, "capo 5," but it should say "capo 7."

  • That's a great guitar, I first saw one at a folk festival.. Charlie Zahm plays the J-10 almost exclusively. Shame they don't make them anymore, I'd like to buy one someday.

  • I knew I liked Charlie Zahm! Obviously a smart fella with discerning taste in guitars!!

    ;-)

Yes; I love that guitar. I have an L09 which is also a beautiful guitar, but I love my J10!

  • Soooo nice! why so short?

  • I was just learning to use the camera and the video software. I was still using a free, unlicensed version (hence the ad text in the middle of the screen). But I posted the "demo" and it's been playing - so I left it up as is.

  • nice!!

    i love this song!!

do u have or planning to make the tab for this song?

  • No Tab, I'm not tab guy - don't how to write or read it. There may be tabs out there for this song, though. In this vid I play it open tuning.

  • great guitar!

  • beautiful

  • This version is definately the best here on you tube - unfortunately too short! It's my song because sort of an English translation of my name. I love all these Scotisch (and also Irisch) traditional songs I got to know from my primary school teacher in Australia.

  • Gosh these old folk tunes are something special. There's something so warm and pure about them and modern music owes so much to them.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Well done my friend, great tune**********

    Regards Bertil
