  • I saw a picture of Helen with Ed Sullivan. Did she ever appear on his show (shew)?

  • Helen was on the Ed Sullivan show twice. On the first one, Helen wass'nt too happy with him, because she was told to wear something far more glamourous than the dress she had bought along for the show. Also they wanted her to sing "keep away from other girls", When Helen and her record company had another song in mind. Also Ed Sullivan kept imitating her accent. Helen left the show, not a very happy bunny.

  • i still love helen and lesley, very natural singers no gimmicks

  • Helen Shapiro was just too good to hit it BIG in the USA. She has a much better voice than Lesley Gore.

    She sounded Black.

  • another version by kiki dee is just as good...shame neither were hits...in fact did anyone chart anywhere with this

  • happy bday helen!

  • @shmuli9 i dont even think i could see helen drunk and passed out! but you never know. that would of been funny though!

  • being from the US i love very soulful voices like this and i dont like singers with high pitched vioces like justin bieber! i love you HELE SHAPIRO!

  • didnt kiki or whatever her name is write this i really like it

  • Is the one picture Helen cutting a rug with Adam Faith? Was she even old enough to go to a nightclub, though the idea of Helen getting drunk and passing out on the toilet is kind of funny.

  • Wow! I love Lesley Gore's version, but this rendition just wipes the floor with it! Along with Jackie DeShannon, Helen should have been HUGE! What a mystery.

  • @Vitamorm She sounded more like a boy than "black". Though, I think most Britsh singers DO sound like Black Americans (Elton John, Dusty Springfield, Lisa Stansfield, Rick Astley), and I think it's because most (Protestant) white Americans are told "to sing from the top of one's lungs", which might be cute, but not very soulful...

  • Man, how I love youtube ! I'd never have known Helen Shapiro without th' youtube !

Thank you, everyone, for every one of these H. S. posts. Love you always, Helen !

  • what a great vioce
