Exactly, in my opinion, a you should be able to run a program from a command line and the last time I checked there was no CLI for PHP.....

WTF are you talking about Bill Gates doesn't know how to program. He and Paul Allen developed the BASIC interpreter for the Altair.

I like how "geeks" such as yourself are now trying to make it an exclusive club. Why is it that one has to know how to program to be a geek? I design web pages with php, css, actionscript and other such scripting languages, build my own computers, and play lots of video games. Am I not a geek just because I don't know C++ or C#? Who cares if Kevin Rose is a geek? He's found a way to turn something he likes doing into an extremely profitable job. I'd say you're just jealous.

Amongst the non-geek population, Rose and Gates are seen as geeks. You can't blame them for this, because it pretty much takes a true geek to know a true geek. However amongst the geek/nerd/hacker community, Gates is seen as a cheating, lieing, stealing jerk and the FOSS movement will take care of him. As for Rose, he's an entrepreneur, not a geek. Similar confusion raises between a true hacker (ESR/RMS definition) and a media defined hacker (aka cracker). Cheers.
