Polo 1.3 G40 vs Civic 2.0 Type-R

Tuned Polo G40 vs tuned Civic Type-R.
The Polo G40 1.3l has 115bhp as stock and it had a few inexpensive tweaks made (smaller kompressor pulley + polo gt intake manifold + modified chip).
The 200bhp 2.0 Civic Type-R had a full exhaust system + intake + modified ecu.
The Polo weighs some 400 kilos less than the Civic and it shows! :)

Very well tuned G40.

The Type R goes the 0-100 km/h in 6,6 seconds.

Polo G40 was sold in 1991 with 8,6 seconds by 113 HP.

There must have been some modifations.

I have G40, too. No Turbo but a lot of mods.

175 HP and Vmax of 233 km/h (GPS Proofed).

Hi! Didn't you see the video description? It states the mods for both cars. As you surely know even a mildly modded G40 (smaller pulley & few other mods) is much, much faster than stock. My humble G40 that has a few mods (65mm pulley, SNS chip & GT manifold) is able to keep up with a 335d (286hp) up to 140-150kph. Even I couldn't believe it! :)

I've owned 4 G40's so far and like us many will never forget this fantastic little hot-hatch that was very popular here in Portugal. Cheers!

How much do these things weigh?

I know what you mean by lightweight my mates Starlet GT turbo used to beat Civic Type R with only 154bhp back then.

Circa 800 kilos...vs +1.200 kilos of the CTR.

Power to weight ratio is the key for fast acceleration.

I also drive a (stock)G40, it's one of the most underrated cars i've ever driven. The first time i drove against other "fast" cars(honda civic vti and type R, golf GTI, Bmw 530d,...) I was like WTF, these things are fast. Especially 0 to 160 km/h. After owning it for 6 years it still gives me the G-smiles. I love my G40 and I will never sell it.
