It's shocking, but in Ireland all ports are "public" (sofhozes run by friends and families), transportation - run by marxist unions (most unreliable in Europe), banks... no comment, energy - "public", plus cartels (only possible with bureaucrats' help): doctors, dentists, and others... Eircom - quasi-private. I was forced to pay baksheesh to the unions...

@grraadd Fine Gael would destroy the Unions given their chance. In fairness the Unions especially the SIPTU hypocrites are in the governments pockets and everyone knows it. The transport is the most unreliable you say? I don't know many private operators who would still run routes that don't make money like the 3 CIE companies thats where transport is tricky. Electricity, Gas, Bin collection, Telephone, TV, etc all now have competition in their respective markets....
