I always loved this song since seeing Windjammer as a boy and also from playing the album. I think I still have two LPs and, thanks to you, Lorene, I have the music on CD now. Because of this song, I always loved the name, Kari, and, if I had thought about it at the time, I probably would have named one of my daughters Kari but I didn't think of it. Maybe I will still name a pet Kari someday. :-)

Lasse Kolstad, the actor and singer, celebrated his 90th birthday on January 10, 2012, and he passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
I was at the first showing of the movie Windjammer at the Colloseum Cinema in Oslo way back then at the age of 6, and I think that movie made me become a sailor later on.
memories, memories...

Kari is a Norwegian name. It was the famous singer Mr. Odd Wolstad (Norwegian) who song this first of all, on a singleplate. He got a voice who make goosehaut all over one, very much indeed.
Unfortunealy there is nothing to find about him in the archives, just a description of his career and his last restplace - a graveyard in Stavanger, Norway
