Andy's Driving videos around Derby, Derbyshire, UK :
Are you an ex-pat of Derby, feeling homesick? Or perhaps you just want a clear way of giving someone directions to a location in Derby or just want to show people your Derby Street. Well in this video and the many others I have made, you will be able to take a virtual drive around the city of Derby's streets as though you were in the driving seat. • Wow, it's been 10 years since I was back for a visit, I live in the Chicago, USA area. This is the neighborhood that my mom grew up in. My grandmother's house is on Beckingham Way. I have several family members that live in the estate and my uncles own the Kingsway Pub.

I used to haunt those shops as a little boy back in the early 70's. I remember going down to the toy shop to get my Airfix models and army men. There was a Co-op down one end and a chippie down the other. Mushy peas - yes !!

  • The co-op and chippy are still there.

If you like my local videos then subscribe as I have lots of Derby stuff for you.

  • I just subscribed to your channel. It is pretty cool. I was born in Wirksworth so any future footage of that area would be interesting. My dad lives in Buxton and that is a beautiful area too. I will definitely be checking out more of your work on the Derbyshire area. Thanks again for posting !

  • Lovely. Saw my house after 60 years.

  • Yes Rosemary I remember Humbleton Farm well. No photos though. Also knew your grandfather a little. I was five at the time. Lived at 8 Greenland Ave. Used to play with George Hunt. Bridget lived next to us. Her house stood next to our garage. My mum was district nurse.

Mrs Hunt was the only person able to make ice cream in the area during the war. Do you remember the Clarkes small holding opposite the your house?

I just typed in Humbleton Farm and look what came up !! Thanks for the reminders.

  • Great! Ex Mackworth girl, now living in Western Australia,,, never thought I would miss the streets of Mackworth. thanks
