This piece is featured in the various Rocky films and was written by Bill Conti, who also wrote the famous main Rocky Theme ( " Gonna Fly Now" ) © 1976

Here it is performed by danofsydney on piano

Technical / Equipment Info:
I used a Yamaha Digital Piano hooked up to a computer (via MIDI) running Native Instruments Akoustik Piano (software piano) and the model used is the Steingraeber 130 vintage upright piano.

"The character of this upright and the slight inharmonicity of the overtones lend itself to this poignant piece by great film music composer Bill Conti." danofsydney

Some of Bill Conti's Film and TV work includes the James Bond: For Your Eyes Only, as well as the TV shows Dynasty, Cagney & Lacey, and The Lifestyles of The Rich And Famous.

Steingraeber & Sohne are a German manufacturer of fine upright and grand pianos, including the worlds largest upright the model 138. The piano company began making pianos in 1820 in Germany and by 1852 had become Bavaria's largest and most important manufacturer of upright and grand pianos

Akoustik Piano is a software package (VST - Virtual Instrument) built on the extensively sampled sounds of four pianos. a Steinway, a Bosendorfer, the Bechstein and the Steingraeber, I highly recommend it for those who appreciate fine piano tone : )

An alternative to the NI upright used here is the Synthogy Upright Pianos which includes 4 different upright pianos.

I look forward to reading your comments or questions thankyou...

along in the ring conti soundtrack music stallone rocky I if you watch closely you can see How to play "Alone in the Ring" if you dont read music sheets balboa performance how to tape hands for boxing review demonstration how to play by clear view piano Rocky III Mickey theme Interpolation adrian . I went for a Philly accent in the intro, alla Rocky... accents and linguistics are another interest of mine and the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania drawl is distinctive. The Chicago old-school gangster accent as featured in another Stallone film "Oscar" is even better though. I think this is the best version of alone in the ring on piano visually, timbrally and musically ... short of playing it on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art!

Thanks to the website TotalRocky for featuring this video on their great Rocky site (I recommend you check out their comprehensive site)..Oct '09

Also check out TV show CONTENDER Australia, and the upcoming bout with the great Anthony " The Man " Mundine
(Stallone featured in the first series of the US version)

  • @PatrickderPaumeister good one, but that didnt make sense, and it in no way proved me wrong. get this dudes dick outta your mouth for a second and listen to the actual song and tell me it was done right. a fucking deaf child could hear the difference. stop sucking this retard off

  • first of all, what the hell is that voice? second, im no pianist so i dont know the terms, but you're right hand is definitely too low. i know just from listening to alone in the ring literally over 300 times on repeat that the notes are higher than that. and third, its too fast. dont you have a metronome or something?
