According to Wikipedia in JP, Kanpei's gag "Amema" was derived from a little kid's saying "Ahh Mama!" and it changed to "Amema". You say Amema spontaneously when you get into a trouble or driven into a bind (as a gag).
(Although Wiki may not be right sometimes.)
However, Kanpei-san and staff members seem to explain that "Amema" is just as a silly word which doesn't have any meaning, during Earth Marathon. They're happy to have Amema friends through Earth Marathon and it is cheering them up.
AMEMA!!が世界に拡がるとよいですね。
日本へ帰ってくるの待っています。ファイトです。
