The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is pleased to introduce One City, One Symphony, a new program this fall that encourages our community to come together through music. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, concluding with the exhilarating "Ode to Joy," is the perfect vehicle to engage each other in a celebration of our shared humanity. The multi-week initiative culminates in three CSO performances of the Ninth Symphony and its "Ode to Joy" finale with the May Festival Chorus on November 15, 17 and 18 at Music Hall and led by Louis Langrée, who officially begins his tenure as CSO Music Director in 2013. Paired with Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw, the Ninth Symphony will take audiences from darkness to light, from deep sorrow to elated joy. This is not just a concert, but an exploration of ideas, bringing people from all walks of life together in a shared arts experience to generate community connectedness and dialogue.
