Today 12/16/2011 UTC time, Comet Lovejoy (c/2011 w3) took on the sun and survived it's onslaught of wrath. Count this a rare win for the comet team! Congrats Lovejoy!

  • Note it now has clearly visible 2 tails - the ion tail (solar wind/magnetic) and the brighter dust/gas tail (light pressure)....The second tail could also be faintly seen on the comet's approach to the sun....Thanks for posting...Thumbs!

  • Comet Lovejoy lives !
