Samus Appears From My Car

This idea came up while discussing that awesome Metroid sound bite when Samus leaves her ship. I had some lazy time this afternoon and a lot of tape, so why not? If this works well for a couple days I'll think about doing actual measurements and making something a bit more permanent.

What's not included in the video is that these greeting cards can't be completely overwritten. You get ten seconds to record your own message and then the built-in song plays. I had to find a song I could live with in case my door stayed open longer than ten seconds...this card plays the theme from Superman.

...That's... brilliant! Considering how much those gift cards cost, it should be fairly cheap to make your own, to eliminate the pre-recorded song. You should send an inquiry to the guys at Evil Mad Scientist, they'd probably love to put up a tutorial on homemade recordable gift cards.
