Jason Alexander directed Sam Shapard's The God of Hell for the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles in 2006. Here is what he had to say about this unusual play.

No, schmuck, a theater snob would be someone who says theater is the highest form of art. You're thinking of a snob against theater. Glad to be of help

(and next to movies and tv, theater still remains of little consequence in L.A. Just a fact).

  • @RollingOrmond You said running a theater in L.A. is of very little consequence. That's what a theater snob says. Thus, you're a theater snob. How tough was that?

  • @hothitter

How am I a theater snob when I say it's of little consequence in L.A.? Learn to read a post.

  • @RollingOrmond

Spoken like a loyal dues paying member of the Theater Snobs of America. And what about Alexander’s Tony award? Should we discount that too because it wasn’t Beckett or Pirandello? Honestly, I’m astonished you can lower your nose long enough to even read these posts.

  • @hothitter

Running a theater in L.A. is like runnning a Nascar fan club in N.Y.; of very little consequence.

  • @RollingOrmond You missed my point entirely (no surprise there). Whatever you think of him, Alexander's admiration for Shepard may very well be genuine, not "sucking up" as you presume to know. And by the way, Alexander won a Tony Award for his role in the play "Broadway," and is currently artistic director for the Reprise Theater Company in Los Angeles. So excuse me for holding his opinion in higher regard than that of some anonymous poster named RollingOrmond.

The guy who worked with Seinfeld and Kramer for ten years is suddenly the barometer of great theater? Thanks. Pass.

  • @RollingOrmond Thank you for telling us what motivated Alexander. I guess since you're not terribly impressed with Sam Shepard, it's impossible to believe that Alexander might be.

  • Sam Shepard no master storyteller. Some memorable work, but also alot of gimmickry and purple cowboy dialogue. Alexander just sucking up.

  • I had no idea Jason Alexander directed theatre. Fantastic!
