My attempt at using the planetary 'gear' from the powerminers line to create a CVT. I am not a mechanical whiz kid, so I am not 100% sure this is the best solution but it appears to work. The faster the 'drum' is rolling, the lower the gear ratio is, and the more torque is available at the wheels.

  • Why doesn't it go faster since its like a cvt, shouldn't it be able to achieve a 5.1 of a 100:1 ratio since a cvt can make infinite ratios?

  • @knightrider1545 I would say that creating a 100:1 ratio has nothing to do with the CVT; it is simple to put additional gears after it and create ratios like that. Unfortunately, that would not be very productive because at ratios like that the power required to overcome friction simply is higher than the power supplied by the engine.
