There were some really talented engineers working there at the time but like all British engineers, they never ever got the money or respect they deserved - In Germany, its the total opposite.. this occupation gets a lot of respect in the same way a doctor or lawyer does, and more importantly, money.

the handling was excellent,pretty flat and the build quality was ok, not as good as the Germans but equall to Ford, Vauxhall, Renault etc.... MG made pretty good cars,just not as good as the Germans..have a look at US cars from the time and the MG comes out well

@TheSaintST1 the respect they deserved? i'm sorry but clearly they did something wrong when within 40 years or so almost all british car makers went bankrupt

@SirJiveBunny Bollox. It failed because of poor management and terrible cars. The lazy arseholes on the shop floor were quick enough to blame the moronic management but if they had built them properly instead of striking or doing a half arsed job even bad management wouldn't have sent it down. It was a complete team effort. Shit managers managing people who couldn't be bothered to do their jobs.

mate had the 2.0i non turbo back in the day, it used to go wrong all the time, mainly head gaskets, fast but crap!

@skullboy1990 I understand what you mean. The word 'boob' also means stupid or fool, in American slang. I guess I always thought of 'boob-tube' as a fools box meaning, a fool watches TV rather than reading or being outside experiencing. I will agree that television has become less wholesome over the years to the point that even I, a 26 year old American man, have become disgusted by it.

@skullboy1990 Could be, not really sure. I'm American and a 'boob-tube' here is considered slang for a Television, however it's not a very common thing to say anymore. I feel like an ignorant fool but would you mind explaining your perception to me? lol
