NXTower

Everybody makes some sort of turret in their NXTlife. At least, it would seem to me to be a reasonable standard.

A: Winch
B: Up/Down
C: Left/Right

Anyways this thing can turn left, right, up and down. It has a winch style firing mechanism (I used some twine). Both A and B move when it angles up or down. It does this to only give enough slack to not fire.

Because I just used the NXT as the controller, I had to use a "mode" system so I had enough buttons to control it with. Left and right alone are rotate left and right via C. If the touch sensor is held, left and right become up and down. Enter is fire. You have to hold it until the winch pulls the firing mechanism and fires. When you release, the NXT laughs (standard sound "Laughing 02") and unreels the winch the same amount of degrees that you reeled it using enter. After that is done, it loops back to aiming.

The NXTlog page was rejected because one of the files was corrupt. However, I have already built a second version (using only lego pieces). It fires faster and aims with alot more precision, so you'll have to check it out. I should post a video of it soon and upload it to NXTlog.
